This session will focus on the evidence that points to peripheral IVs as a contributing source of poor clinical outcomes including CRBSI, We will examine current commonly held practices and an evidenced based overview on what needs to be changed.

 

Objectives:

1.  Review some of the current evidence for complications, including CRBSI,  related to Peripheral IV devices

 2.  Discuss the commonly used methods for inserting and maintaining peripheral IVs

 3.  Identify appropriate bundle objectives, based on current evidences, for the prevention of  complications related to peripheral IV therapy
